Lake McConaughy in Ogallala, Nebraska

Our next camping experience was something that neither of us had seen. We camped at Lake McConaughy in Ogallala, Nebraska. It is the largest reservoir in a three state region. When the water is at it's highest level it it 20 miles long, 4 miles wide and 142 feet deep at the dam. Unlike Pawnee SRA this place had lots of people and you could just put your camper anywhere around the lake you wanted. People would either pull or pay ($60) to have their camper put by the lake. If you had a 4 wheel drive vehicle you could drive around on the beaches. We camped in an area with electric but no water. Basically people just camp where ever they can get their vehicle and it is okay with the state park. This was a new one to us.
